So, since this is a school related blog I thought I might tell you a little bit about what I do as a Theatre Arts major. I am pleased to say that I am the assistant costume designer for this show, since costuming is what I want to do in the near future. I have been responsible for designing Mama's dress for her main number, Hunyak's outfit for when she is hanged, and all of the Razzle Dazzle costumes.
So far the design process has gone very well, and we have started to take my ideas from the paper and make them come to life. Some of you will be very happy to know that Hunyak's outfit will be very Emilie Autumn inspired. I actually worked on putting it together today (basically the rough draft), so here is a picture (or four)!
Below are just some snapshots of materials I am mostly working with at the moment, the table is covered with them. And yes, that is indeed a snippet of a bra covered in sparkly pins, pics to come later ;)
Although I am not in the show, I did get to model for the poster! That was lots of fun, even if it was only silhouette stuff. I still wish that I could have been in the show...I get jealous making everyone else awesome things to wear on stage that I'm stuck backstage while they get admired.
I will probably be posting about this more as opening night gets closer, and speaking of '20s themed events coming up soon, my birthday is only 2 weeks away!Stay Spooky!

Oh my gosh!! I love that dress!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's so cool you make dresses for Theater, I really wish I could sew and make patterns, you have a real talent.
I know how you feel about being backstage, I do photoghraphy and make short films and it's hard to see people get to do it all while I'm behind the cameras. Your work is very beautiful, I wish I could go see the show so I could see the costumes.
Ooh its so beautiful! Your such a talent!
ReplyDeleteLooks really amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat's totally exciting. It looks fabulous so far! I hope you'll share some photos of it in action after the play opens.
